List Building: Is "$1" Per Subscriber A Myth?

There's long been a saying in internet marketing circles that you should be able to make $1 per month from every subscriber you have on your email list. Is there any truth to this age-old myth? Or is it just a pile of baloney that will only lead to disappointment in the future?

Sadly, it's actually a myth as there are many factors which determine how much money you can make from your email list. Some people have thousands of
people on their list yet find it hard to make a single sale. The good news though, is that there are many who make much more than $1 a subscriber a month. There are numerous stories of marketers who have made $1,000+ in a single day from mailing to a list as small as 300.

There's really no limit to the amount you can earn from your list. Most importantly it will come down to where you got your email leads from in the first place eg. are they freebie seekers you got from Facebook or are they people who have bought something from you in the past?

People who have bought something from you in the past will become your best customers provided the product you sold them was high in quality and solved a problem that it promised. You will have established trust with these loyal subscribers and they will most likely give any new offerings from you a good look over.
Next, what kind of relationship do you have with your list? Do you simply pound them with affiliate offers several times a day or do you take the time to send your subscribers quality content which in turn will build your relationship with your subscribers which will ultimately lead to more sales whenever you choose to promote something.

Sending too many marketing pitches to your list will lead to a large number of unsubscribes and your emails will go unread and unnoticed in their inbox. Ultimately, you want to find the perfect balance between sending helpful content and product promotions.

As a final tip, be sure you send out your email promotions for products that you have actually used and tested yourself. The last thing you want to do is promote a product to your list that is garbage. This will destroy your relationship and your list will never trust you again in the future.
