What is Email footer?
When you open an email in your email client like hotmail or yahoo, you will see three sections. Of course, these three sections are not obvious unless it is a business email or ezines etc. The top part usually contains business header graphic in html email or details of the organization that sent you the
email in text format. Next is the main message which we call body of the email. Here you can see main content of the email message. Below the body is the footer area of the email below which the email message ends.
What can you include in your Email footer area?
* Unsubscribe link:
If subscribers want to leave your list they can click an email link called 'unsubscribe link' to remove themselves. Once they unsubscribe, your backend autoresponder software removes them permanently so they don't receive your emails again.
Include this unsubscribe link in your footer area. Not all subscribers are aware of this unsubscription process. So include few lines of instructions on how your unsubscribe link works and test it by yourself to see whether it is actually working.
* Physical Address:
Most ezine/newsletter editors don't bother about including this physical address. But according to CAN-SPAM law, you have to include this especially if it is a commercial email. So your subscriber knows with whom they are dealing with. You can include your business address along with a phone number if you offer phone support.
* Private policy:
Include your thoughts on what your subscriber is meant to you, how their personal details like email, name and other information will be handled by your system. If you have a long list of private policy notes or you published it on your web site, you can keep a link to that web page on your site.
* Link back to your web site:
Include a link back to your web site or include a discount coupon code or a product image in footer areas. This way you are improving your chances of product exposure to your subscribers.
